- We advance technologically with ease but not so socially, politically, or intellectually.
- We war with each other every day, everywhere, in every way conceivable.
- We destroy our environment and deplete our resources.
Why is that?
We don’t use ancient tools to do our work.
We don’t drive around in vehicles that are thousands of years old.
We don’t see chariots being driven down our streets.
Yet, we cling to supernatural religious beliefs that are thousands of years old.
These beliefs are products of the infancy of our intelligence.
As a consequence, billions of people exist in a world of fiction and fantasy.
They do not understand our reality and its behavioral demands to sustain humanity, advance our civilization, and succeed as a species.
They do not recognize the inherent value in our diversity.
Instead, full of fear, they create all kinds of divisions, all kinds of tribes.
We have nation-state tribes, political-party tribes, religious tribes, corporate tribes, ad infinitum.
These tribes war with each other.
As a consequence, we exist not more secure but less secure.
We have created a destructive and unsustainable momentum that must be arrested and reversed if we are going to improve the quality of our lives, end our needless suffering, prosper together, find peace, sustain humanity, advance our civilization, and succeed as a species.
We need a reality-based understanding of what is sacred in our world.
It’s simply that in life which, at our peril, we cannot violate, damage, dishonor, or destroy.
Otherwise, we suffer.
