A newspaper article on September 12, 2001 reported that a local minister saw “evidence of a caring God” in the September 11, terrorist attacks.
“At the time when those buildings were hit, I thought, thank God, He’s there because I was amazed at how long those buildings stood up,” he said.
“Thousands were able to escape and get out of the way from below and inside during that 45 minutes to an hour range that those buildings withstood the impact. I look at that as God holding that building up to let as many as they could get out. That was a grace period that God held to let them get out.” (Reported in the Sarasota Herald Tribune)
Why it didn’t occur to this minister that if it were “God’s” intent to minimize the number of deaths, He, She, It, or Them could have prevented this tragedy (and countless others) in the first place?!
