Knowledge is Survival

Excerpt #118 from my book, Religion, An Obstacle to Human Progress

People look for “ancient wisdom” as if that is where the solutions to today’s problems are found.

It reminds me of the “out-of-town” expert phenomenon—a person who comes from a long distance is often considered more credible.

Just as we don’t need to go “out-of-town” for local expertise, we don’t need to go back into history to this or that tribe for their rituals and very limited knowledge.

We know a great deal more.

It’s not knowledge that we lack; it’s the application of knowledge.

KNOWLEDGE IS SURVIVAL.

Knowledge

First thing, take care of your body.

It’s the only one you get.

You’ve got to travel in it for all of your life.

And how long your life lasts, the quality of it and your health, depends largely on how well you take care of your body—today.

TAKE CARE OF THE ELDERLY PERSON YOU WILL BECOME.

In our world, the poor and under-educated are exploited by opportunists: the powerful, wealthy, and the clever.

Too many of the powerful exploit the weak.

They take their money, program their minds, and demand their allegiance.

Secular schools can never be tolerated because such schools have no religious instruction, and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air: consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith . . . we need believing people. – Adolf Hitler, from a speech made during negotiations leading to the Nazi-Vatican Concordant, April 26, 1933

SMALL PEOPLE CAUSE BIG PROBLEMS.
