The following “Observations” are excerpted from Chapter 1, Uncommon Sense, from my “The Book of Observations.”
There are about 2,000 “Observations” in this book.
If it can happen, it will.
The more choices, the more confusion.
Every moment is unique.
Everything means something.
That which is remote becomes less so.
Both good and bad advice are costly.
Haste is often the culprit.
There is no more elusive prey than common sense.
No one’s like everyone else.
The bottom line is the bottom line.
It is difficult to have people over you who are beneath you.
Dirt accumulates.
Uncommon are those who seek the common ground.
Deaf are those who hear but do not listen.
Those who manufacture crises build turmoil.
Illnesses do not respect schedules.
It’s easy to judge from the sidelines.
Wisdom counsels even from the grave.
Chaos ripples.
Life is temporary.
The future is a moving target.
No one wins all of the time.
Blame is convenient.
Good and bad alternate.
Hoopla comes and goes.
No one escapes oblivion.
The heart feels; the mind knows.
Expanded, a round hole can accommodate a square peg.
There is no last frontier.
The surface reveals little.
It’s far easier to marry than to divorce.
Life is expensive.
Crises induce growth.
Reality is no match for fantasy.
Nothing is as easy as it looks.
The future is a product of the past.
Hurry is the husband of remorse.
We move incrementally toward that which is possible.
Assertiveness is not a measure of intelligence.
Sympathy imagines, empathy knows, errors teach.
Waiting lengthens time.
There can be individuality but not independence.
Everything disintegrates, but nothing disappears.
The mind is a reservoir of creativity.
Perfection has many definitions.
Integrity is the victim of rationalization.
Our minds are no match for our hearts.
Truth travels.
All bodies are parts of larger bodies.
Time delivers and devours all things.
